It is a season of laughter, giving and spending time with family and loved ones. It is also that time of the year that calls for some reflection in order to give thanks for the abundance in our lives and to appreciate those around us who aren’t as fortunate. The Mamelodi Sundowns Supporters family recently showed the spirit of Ubuntu by ensuring that the Motaung family will have a blissful season and have plenty of reasons to celebrate.

Moyahabo Monyekgope
from the Gauteng South Branch, who is the Welfare Committee Chairman, took time out to chat with the Mamelodi Sundowns Digital Magazine Crew about what recently went down in Qalabotjha.

“The project started when we took the initiative to give food parcels to those in need during the hard lockdown. When one of our branches in the Qalabotjha area visited the Motaung family, they reported the pitiable situation to us. That was when we decided to build a home for them. The project took some time to complete, but at the end of the day, we are happy to say that there is a family that has a roof over their heads at this time of the year” said Monyekgope.
Supporters putting in the last touches of the houseThe Welfare Committee Chairperson further explained how the house was built and spoke warmly of those who played a vital role in the project, "Individuals within the provincial structures gave generously to the project and some members campaigned for donations. We got a lot of support (cash and kind) from local businessmen. It was heartwarming to be part of the project and to see the Motaung family in Villiers so happy when the house was handed over to them" he added.

Monyekgope also had some heartfelt words for the Mamelodi Sundowns family and said "To everyone who was part of this initiative, we say bravo on a job well done."
"Wherever and whenever we can, let us make efforts to help those in need – as part of Ubuntu-Botho, which is visible on the front of our jersey. To the Sundowns family, we have learned so much from the philanthropic efforts of our President Dr. Patrice Motsepe. Let us continue to do our best when we can. We are Better Together and with God everything is possible."
