BUILDING A BOND WITH THE YELLOW NATION Ka Bo Yellow Kids enjoying the supporter experience at Maponya MallAuthor: John AliuPhotos: Sundowns MediaIn our last issue, Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club Chairman, Tlhopie Motsepe, underlined the desire of the club to increase engagements with the 12th player in the team, our highly esteemed supporters, during the course of the season. Thus far, The Brazilians have been strategic and intentional in strengthening its ever-growing bond with the Yellow Nation. Matchdays are being created to enhance the supporter experience with fireworks, performances and ensuring there is a family friendly environment, specifically making it fun for the junior Masandawana supporters.
Outside of the pitch, the Brazillians are bringing the club closer to the fans with the objective to interact with them and growing the brand on the ground. Part of these experiences include high-octane performances, entertainment with freestylers and dancers, interacting with first-team players, giveaways and just creating an exciting and vibey experience where fans can walk away feeling good. Regional Miss Mamelodi Sundowns Gauteng contestent, Tebogo Mphahlele believes these activations are crucial in capturing the attention of the younger trendy generation.
“It warms my heart to see young fans and even kids attending these activations in large numbers. It shows the willingness and readiness of Mamelodi Sundowns to reach out to the younger generation. Many of these kids have been able to interact with the first-team players as well as their favorite artists while donning the club’s jerseys and gear. I am very excited to be part of these events and initiatives that the club is constantly creating,” Mphahlele stated. “These activations by Mamelodi Sundowns have been very strategic in growing the brand as well as encouraging people to attend games. The club has made it regularly possible for supporters to mingle with the players; a move which goes a long way in strengthening the bond enjoyed by the Masandawana family. I am so impressed with the way the kids have been factored into these activities. In additional, the clothing partnership with Ackermans has made it possible for kids' merchandise to be affordable. Trust me when I say that the future is bright at Mamelodi Sundowns,” Dj Naves stated.
“We appreciate what Mamelodi Sundowns has been doing for its supporters across South Africa. Some of us come from areas without professional football clubs and here we are, taking photos with the reigning DSTV Premiership champions. We hope the club continues to extend its reach across the nation to ensure the brand gains more visibility. We are a big club when it comes to dominating Mzansi and now we want to make sure we fill stadiums across South Africa and conquer the African continent.” Terrence Mashego chatting to a supporter in Maponya Mall Supporter celebration at Denlyn Mall This season, Mamelodi Sundowns have hosted supporter events across Gauteng (in Mamelodi, Atteridgeville, Soshanguve, Hatfield Square), Polokwane and Durban, just to mention a few.
As the club continues to go into the communities and grow the supporter base, we encourage you to experience and be a part of these initiatives as the club may be in your region when the league resumes in January.
