At just 20 years of age, Thapelo has already earned a call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad and attracted interest from numerous clubs both domestically and internationally, especially in Belgium, before moving to Chloorkop.

The rising star, who joined from SuperSport United, couldn’t contain his excitement after making the move, stating, “From the moment I arrived, I could sense the passion and ambition that surrounds this great club. The level of professionalism and dedication among the coaching staff and players is truly inspiring, and it’s evident that Chloorkop is a place where winning mentalities thrive.”

The talented youngster joins a list of players who have switched from Matsatsantsa to Masandawana in recent times, following Jeremy Brockie, Aubrey Modiba, Grant Kekana, Teboho Mokoena, Sipho Mbule and Ronwen Williams.

Although primarily deployed as a left-footed winger last season, Maseko showcased his versatility by playing in various positions, including left-back, left-midfield and even as a left-striker. His contributions helped SuperSport secure a third-place finish on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) table and earned qualification for the CAF Confederations Cup. Across 25 games in all competitions, he scored four goals and registered two assists.
Maseko’s remarkable performances did not go unnoticed, as he was nominated for the DStv Premiership Young Player of the Season award, which he lost to Cassius Mailula. However, he was later crowned with the same award at club level.
The pacy winger states that he is eager to adapt and further enhance his playing style to best serve his new side.

“Speed has always been an important aspect of my game. I am determined to work hard during training to improve my skills, so I can be a valuable asset in helping my team. My primary objective is to contribute goals and assists, ensuring that we finish the season with multiple titles,” the youngster confidently expressed.
Having spent two seasons with SuperSport, Maseko had the opportunity to face off against the Brazilians on multiple occasions, even scoring during Matsatsantsa’s 2-1 victory in a PSL fixture last campaign.

When asked about the Sundowns player who posed the greatest threat against him on the field, Maseko said, “Khuliso Mudau was not easy to play against. He is a quick and powerful defender who challenges you every step of the way.”

I am thrilled that we are now on the same side,” he said with enthusiasm.

When reflecting on the international legends who have profoundly influenced his playing career, Thapelo singled out Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldinho.

“Both of them are legends of the game. If I could spend a day with CR7, I would love to ask what his secret is to his longevity and how he stays motivated to keep scoring goals. For Ronaldinho, I would love to ask him about his dribbling skills and how he has such a magical connection with the ball,” he concluded.
