With almost 300 branches spread across South Africa, Swaziland, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and even in the USA, Mamelodi Sundowns has emerged as a fast-growing brand on the African scene.
Arrival of Sundowns Representatives in Windhoek, Namibia© Sundowns MediaTo further expand its influence across the African continent, Sundowns recently established a new branch in Namibia. The event, which took place in the Capital city, Windhoek, was attended by Mamelodi Sundowns Namibian goalkeeping legend, Ronnie Fillemon Kanalelo, and Four-time Olympic Silver Medalist, Frankie Fredericks. They were in the company of the legendary Daniel ‘Mambush’ Mudau and our Club Ambassador Tiyani ‘Shuga’ Mabunda who travelled from South Africa to be part of the historic event.

The Namibian branch was long overdue and we are happy that we have been able to launch and paint Namibia yellow.”

Mambush went on further to mention the importance of the branch launch, “This is a massive step towards our major objective of becoming one of the most popular football clubs in the world”.

Newly elected Branch Chairperson Jeffrey Naobeb also elaborated on the importance of the occasion, “This is a big day for Namibia as we are launching the branch of one of the biggest football clubs on the continent, Mamelodi Sundowns. It is a big achievement for our nation and it took a lot of determination and hard work to accomplish this feat.”

Jeffrey went on to explain when he started supporting the club, “My love for Sundowns started in 1988 when I was staying in Pretoria. The playing style and winning culture of the club are some of the factors that captured my attention. I am happy to see how well the club has grown and I am proud to be part of the Yellow Nation family. We are also happy with Peter Shalulile who has excelled since he joined Sundowns.”
Ronnie Kanalelo, once a shot-stopper at the Brazilians, was thrilled that Namibia finally had a branch opened. The former goalkeeper joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 1997 from Namibia’s Blue Water Football Club and went on to spend eight successful years at Chloorkop.

“During my time at the club, there were several calls for the branch to be launched in Namibia because of the immense support for the brand. Thankfully, the dream has finally been realised. I am confident that Mamelodi Sundowns is growing on the continent and internationally. It is a big day for our country and I am happy to have represented and played a role in bringing it to the Namibian people.” said Kanalelo.
With the Namibia branch up and running, the beautiful borders of the Yellow Nation are expanding. Mamelodi Sundowns now have a home in Windhoek and we hope to see even more supporters branches opening across the continent in the future!
