Focused and Ready for a Big 2025 Season

Having won the league five times in a row, they are aiming for their sixth consecutive title while also preparing for another campaign in the CAF Women’s Champions League.Goalkeeper Andile Dlamini, a key figure in the team, emphasizes the importance of consistency and effort in their preparations. “This year is a big year for women’s football, and we strive to be at the top. Winning the league five times was not easy for us and every year, the competition improves. Every team wants to win, so we have to stay focused, work hard and give 100% effort in every game. Consistency is key to achieving our goals,” she says.

In addition to their league commitments, Sundowns Ladies will also compete on the Continental front. The team understands the demands of balancing multiple competitions and is committed to preparing well for the season ahead. “We just want to do well and represent the Club with pride in the domestic league while also taking another opportunity to represent both the country and the Club in Continental competitions,” Dlamini adds.

The experienced shot-stopper also acknowledges the importance of mental preparation. Having been in the game for several years, she understands the pressures of competing at the highest level. “I have been working hard on my mental health, staying strong in all situations. It is easy to give up, but setting daily goals keeps me focused. I have also been reading motivational and spiritual books to help me manage my emotions better,” she shares.

The Yellow Nation has always played a big role in motivating the team, and Dlamini appreciates their continued support. “I want to thank the Masandawana supporters for always being part of this journey. Your support gives us confidence and strength. We know many of you travel long distances to watch us play, and we truly appreciate it. This season, we need you more than ever,” she says.
Looking ahead, Dlamini hopes for growth in women’s football, both for the team and the sport in general. “I am looking forward to seeing us achieve our goals as a team and I also hope to see more sponsors and opportunities for women’s football. This is a Women’s Africa Cup of Nations year, so it is an exciting time for the sport,” she concludes.
With a strong squad, a determined mindset and a clear focus on their goals, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have already had a positive start to the season and will be looking to build on that momentum.
