As the festive season rolls in, the Digital Magazine team touched base with Sphe Ngwenya, known as SPHEctacula, and Lebogang Naves - DJ Naves, a musical duo better known as the Kings of the Weekend (KOTW). The pair reflected on a year filled with highs, challenges, music and gratitude—and shared how they will be setting the tone for 2026 with rhythm and celebration.

Mamelodi Sundowns Digital Magazine (MSDM): How would you summarise 2025?

Sphe: “A year of gratitude. There is so much to be thankful for, especially the birth of my youngest.”

Naves: “Gratitude is key. The more I focused on the glass being half full rather than half empty, the more I realised that good things are happening. You just have to trust the process. Be grateful, be present!”

MSDM: What are your top 7 songs of the year?

Naves: “A Mercedes-Benz with a (fixed) roof. This whole convertible thing is embarrassing! 😂😂😂😂”

MSDM: How are you welcoming the New Year?

Sphe & Naves: “We will be ringing in the New Year with fellow lovers of a good time in a city that knows how to celebrate. Expect a big New Year’s banger in Gqeberha for sure!”

MSDM: How do you plan to recharge to gear up for 2026?

Sphe & Naves: “We are taking nine days completely off, away from everything! We cannot wait!”

MSDM: What do you look forward to the most in 2026?

Sphe: “Discovering a new passion and finding a way to turn it into something meaningful.”

Naves: “Getting another chance to try again and make it count!”
